Sang Mon is from the Shan tribe. She is an only child; however, her mother is raising her sister’s child because the parents had separated. Sang Mon’s mother works in an orchard and the family is very poor.  She wants Sang Mon to have an education so that she can have a better future for her lifeand it not to be as difficult as hers has been.  Sang Mon is a bright and friendly girl who likes to help others. She enjoys school and learning new things.
